Director Biography
<p>Cao Yang, born in Chongqing in 1987. Graduated from Chongqing No.2 Foreign Language School in 2006, and Communication University of China in 2010, majoring in film production. Currently working as independent director, editor, and artist. Involved in art projects like “Meditation on Floating Ice” and “The Black Box” from the 53rd Venice Biennale etc., as independent documentary director and publication translator. As an artist, his video work “Soiled Tattered Tissue” was invited to “The Travelling Artwork” exhibition in Amsterdam. His editing works mainly include “A Christmas Eve”, “Private Affairs”, and “Sophia”, etc.</p>
Director's Statement
<p>This is a story about seeking. Instead of seeking Liu Ying seemingly on the surface, what Shi Lin’s seeking indeed is her own position.Despite of the gender, Shi Lin loves girls, especially that one for whom she has turned herself to he. But however Shi Lin struggles to change herself, it appears that she could never change people’s views…In some way, the real Shi Lin may only exist in Ma Xiaoshuai’s eyes…</p>
