SYNOPSIS
A Hong Kong college student is smitten with his English instructor, an older, British frustrated playwright. Their common love of literature leads both men into an erotic affair—the tenuous beginnings of a romance spanning two different world.
For the young men, love represents a window into a novel world while for the older man, romance hardly makes up for a life of disappointments. Can they bridge their differences and come together?
Director Biography
<p>Zhong Desheng graduated from the Film Department of York University in Canada. After returning to Hong Kong, he worked at television stations and production companies, participating in the production of TV programs, commercials, and promotional films. Since 1996, he has been engaged in independent film production, with works including "A Different Home" (1996), which won the Merit Award at the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Competition and the Award of Excellence at Japan's Image Forum Film Festival; "Stanley" (1998), which won the Short Film Gold Award at Spain's Cinema Jove Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at Germany's Regensburg Short Film Festival; and "Heart of Ash" (1999), which won the Merit Award at the Hong Kong Film Myth Short Film Competition. His first feature film, "Only Love Strangers," won the Best Film Award at the Toronto Asian Film Festival. His second feature film, "Love to the End," premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. He is one of the founders of the independent film distribution organization "Film Will," and is currently a member of its board of directors.</p>
