SYNOPSIS
The story takes place in a small coastal town in Hainan Province, where three teenagers spend a unusual day with each other.
Director Biography
Hainanese, young creator, graduates from Hangzhou Normal University film major. He is currently studying at Shanghai Vancouver Film Academy on Jia Zhangke’s “Excellent Talent Program” full scholarship. Selected into the mobile film program of “China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival” for two consecutive years, one of which won the honor of “University special attention”; The 17th FIRST International Film Festival Short Short Film Screening unit; The 8th Xi Ying Light My Fire Young Film Festival; The 31st Beijing College Student Film Festival finalist honors; The Best creative works of the 14th Shenzhen Youth Video Festival; Bronze Award of the 14th Shandong Youth Micro Film Competition; The 9th Asia Microfilm Art Festival Good Works Award; Finalist of Next Wave Hainan Film Festival from 2021 to 2023.
Director's Statement
The inspiration of this story is my insight from my hometown Hainan, where I have lived for many years. I have observed that there are many teenagers in Hainan who are restless in adolescence. They long for freedom but are trapped by reality. Therefore, through this story, I want to explore the universal social phenomena behind it — the influence of the family of origin, the confusion of teenagers, and the moral dilemma of responsibility and concealment after encountering things. I hope to convey the theme of youth growth, change and adversity through this short film. It attempts to express the beauty and complexity of adolescence, a life stage, and to explore the psychological transformation and growth of people in the face of changes and challenges in life. Through emotional contrasts and transitions, viewers may be led to reflect on the vicissitudes of life stages and the internal and external challenges they face as they grow up.
