SYNOPSIS
Grieving actress Nisay returns to Cambodia, reigniting a passionate past love with Thida. Trapped by harsh realities—Family, Duty, Society—their love survives only in memory and on stage, forcing a heartbreakingly rational farewell.
Director Biography
Lai Yuqing, she/they, originally from Fujian, was born in Tianjin, China. She has studied in New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto. Her directorial feature debut, Whisperings of the Moon, had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. Her work has also been selected for TIFF, BFI Flare, Tokyo Talents Shortlist, and the Sundance Ignite finalist, among others.
Director's Statement
“Sometimes, our love is suppressed, unspoken… The deeper the love, the harder it is to express.” This film bears witness to destined separation and eternal love—one reunion can rekindle the past and illuminate regret.
